He managed to "defeat" Parallax Hal Jordan, who had just destroyed all of existence / all timelines right before (in Zero Hour):

This is just another example for why it just isn't possible to powerscale characters in comics consistently.
Any character in a comic can "defeat" any other character, it only depends on the whims of the scriptwriters:

not voted I've always made that same point. I mean just based on powers alone, the Beyonder should never lose to Spider-Man but he has, and multiple times. So, it's all just opinions and bias when voting too. Nice find @xrpl320! Stan Lee is the best! I couldn't have said it any better than that. Also refreshing to hear straight from a creator/writer.
