Estrid Haakon's History

Estrid Haakon is the current ruler of Kattegat. She is a great warrior and tolerant leader. Jarl Haakon's grandmother came from a great African family. Her grandfather met her and fell in love with her in Alexandria, and brought her to Kattegat. Their child was Jarl Haakon's father, who became an even greater warrior. Now she is the ruler of Kattegat. Her husband was trading in Trömsa when his ship was stopped by Christians. When he refused to convert, they tortured him. When he and his men still refused to convert, the Christians killed them all.

Jarl Haakon comes upon Freydis Eriksdotter in the forest outside Kattegat. She warns Freydis that the area is not friendly to pagans except only inside Kattegat. Upon learning who she is, Jarl Haakon tells Freydis to tell her father that she remembers him as they were friends.

Jarl Haakon is killed by Jarl Kåre's warriors in an attack on Kattegat.

Jarl Haakon is widely known as being a tough but fair ruler. She strives to keep her constantly growing and changing city together. She is a pagan, but allows peaceful Christians and those of other faiths to live in Kattegat. She is wise and supportive of the women around her.
