Air Raider (EDF5)

Storm 1

Earth Defense Force Universe

Air Raider's weapons

Guns - As an Air Raider, Storm 1 has access to only two types of weapons.
  • Limpet Guns ?? One of the few direct fire weapon types available to the Air Raider, they launch sticky bombs that can be remotely detonated, although reloading will cause the explosives to deactivate. In addition, there exist the Splendor and Sniper variants. The former's high explosive is replaced with fletchette shrapnel and the latter has a larger payload and extended range at the cost of lower magazine size.
  • Suppress Guns ?? Acting like shotguns, Suppress Guns are generally single shot weapons meant to do massive damage and stun targets. These have very limited range and are nearly melee weapons.

Air Raider's equipment

Suit - The Air Raider's suit provides some protection from most standard damage types (such as acid and fire) and supplies him with a radar display.
Offensive Support Equipment - This category includes all of the Air Raider's equipment for calling in fire support from outside.
  • Artillery Strike Request ?? Utilizing a hand thrown smoke grenade, the Air Raider can call in fire support from off map artillery units. These range from quick fire mortar strikes to massive armor piercing cannon fire to howitzer barrages.
  • Request Gunship Support ?? Utilizing a laser beacon, the Air Raider can direct fire support from a nearby DE 202 Gunship. The DE202's firepower includes autocannons, higher caliber rapid fire cannons, shotgun-like neutralize cannons, high caliber cannons and rocket cannons. Lapis variants of each of these strike types have generally higher stats at the cost of increased reload speed.
  • Request Bombers ?? Utilizing a drone-like system, the Air Raider can call in a bombing run from the EDF's air force. The aircraft he can call in include the KM6 and KM6f, which do strafing runs with varying munitions, the Kamuy and Phobos, which dive bomb a specific area, and the Vesta, which drops napalm bombs.
  • Request Missile Strike ?? Using a guide marker, the Air Raider can call in and direct a cruise missile strike. These strikes range from swarms of 20-45 Lionic missiles to the more power AH missiles that come in barrages of 4-6 to the Tempest Missile, which is a single massive warhead meant to take out fortresses.
  • Request Satellite Support ?? Using a laser beacon, the Air Raider can call in a laser strike from an orbiting satellite. The Bulge laser fires for roughly 30 seconds on a single area while the Spritefall laser fires many rapid shits into a wide area.
Deployable Support Equipment ?? The Air Raider's deployable arsenal acts as both direct fire support and buffs for allies.
  • ZE Sentry Guns?? This series of sentry weapons target and fire at enemies independently and come in machine gun, sniper, rocket, flamethrower and laser variants.
  • Robot Bombs ?? These robotic explosives can be locked onto targets and sent after them, exploding once they make contact. The Patroller variant instead patrols an area and targets the first enemy it sees, exploding on contact.
  • Assault Beetle ?? Acting as a smaller airborne version of the Robot Bombs, the Assault Beetle will stick to the first enemy it comes into contact with and must be detonated manually.
  • Guidance Systems ?? Whether aimed or placed, Guidance Systems increase the range and tracking efficiency of his comrade??s homing weapon systems.
  • Power Posts ?? These placed objects increase the damage from allied weaponry fired within its radius.
  • Guard Posts ?? Guard Posts increase the armor rating of all allies within their radius.
  • Life Vendor/Life Spout Guns ?? The Air Raider??s healing devices are the most potent in the game and can quickly bring an ally back to full health.
  • Bunkers ?? These are a series of forcefield generators that block enemy fire and movement at max level.
  • Decoys ?? Fired from a gun or thrown, Decoys attract enemy attention and fire.
Deployable Vehicles ?? The Air Raider has the capability to call in one of these various vehicle types.
  • Blacker Series ?? The Blacker series of tanks are armed with a single cannon that ranges in caliber from 90 to 140 mm and can fire armor piercing or high explosive rounds. There are also more specialized versions with flame throwers or grenade launchers. Their armor is durable enough and can last for a reasonable amount of time while under fire from Primer plasma weaponry.
  • B651 Titan ?? These massive 25 meter long tanks are armed with numerous machine guns and the powerful Requiem cannon that can punch through multiple enemies with a single shot. Its armor is thick and can stand up to kaiju attacks for a time, although a Titan requires a full three man crew to be useful and isn??t generally deployed without one.
  • AFV Grape Series ?? Representing a lighter variant of the Blacker series, the Grape AFV is equipped with light armor and either a light howitzer or an automatic cannon. Its rear compartment also has room to transport three other EDF soldiers as well. One specific variant is also armed with cannister rounds.
  • Naegling Series ?? This series of self propelled rocket launcher functions as cheap, but fragile, pieces of more direct artillery support for allied soldiers.
  • Caliban Series ?? These mobile hospitals are incredibly effective at getting wounded soldiers back into action while being sturdy enough to be near the front lines. This vehicle lacks any kind of weaponry, although ZE series guns can be placed on the vehicle to provide defensive fire.
  • Nix Series - The Nix powered exoskelteon line offers the most all around effective vehicle the Air Raider can deploy without being truly outstanding in any way. Specific variants can be armed with machine guns, cannons, flamethrowers, shotguns, missile launchers, howitzers, large blades and other anti-monster weaponry.
  • Depth Crawler - Designed for subterranean combat, the Depth Crawler provides a reasonable level of fire power and protection for these cramped environments.
  • BMX10 Proteus - Completely useless when the Air Raider is by himself, the Proteus is a virtual walking fortress armed with cannons operated by allies. When properly staffed, the Proteus is a force to be reckoned with by any invading force.
  • Barga - The Air Raider can call in the massive mecha Barga to help fight kaiju and other massive creatures.
