The Fireman's History

The Fireman (played by Carel Struycken) is a recurring character in the Twin Peaks series. He first appears to Dale Cooper in a vision after the latter is shot in his hotel room. He gives her clues to the murder of Laura Palmer and confirms the identity of the murderer in a new vision at the Roadhouse. Later, he also warns Dale Cooper of the danger Annie Blackburn faces if she participates in the Miss Twin Peaks contest. Although the Giant initially seems filled with good intentions, he could be part of the Black Lodge, since he appears alongside the Man from Another Place in the waiting room preceding the Lodge. Some believe, however, that the waiting room is a neutral zone between the Black Lodge and the White Lodge, and that the Giant is therefore not evil.
