Satori's History

Boys don't cry. How many times in his short life has Satori heard this phrase! But the tears flowed by themselves, falling into the thick grass of the medicinal front garden. But not a single adult, knowing the fate of this pale boy with blue-black unruly hair, would dare to reproach him for his weakness.

Satori lived at the Kata Ki Hospital in the Eastern Mountains and became the most experienced patient here. But nevertheless, the first news about him appeared several years ago and spread with the speed of the wind. The reports were full of headlines: "A black fox was found dead next to a baby freezing in the snow", "A boy and a fox - a mystery of the Oriental Mountains", and the like. One family, inspired by the miraculous rescue, decided to adopt the boy. But it didn't work out here either. The child began to suffer from terrible pains, day and night he was filled with bitter tears, and his skin became white as marble. Moreover, the baby's forehead and wrist were always covered with strange scarlet spots, like ominous signs. The devout adoptive family rushed to get rid of Satori, believing that he was possessed by demons. The Kuraku Temple, where the family brought the boy, also took what was happening seriously, and for the next few months, the child suffered in underground dungeons, forced to endure not only physical but also mental pain.

Eventually, the servants of the temple admitted their powerlessness, but didn't take extreme measures, predicting a quick death for the child - the already sickly child was in bad health. Satori was taken to the hospital for the terminally ill, carrying several prayers, a set of changeable clothes, and a fan - the boy's favorite toy. That's how he ended up here at the Kata Ki Hospital.

As the years passed, Satori's pain grew stronger, bringing despair and longing. The only environment for the teenager was a bed, four walls, and a floor with a ceiling. Only once a week, he was taken out for a walk in the front garden, where he was left to lie, waiting for the room to be cleaned.

Even now, unable to hold back his tears, Satori looked at the sky, listened to the singing of the birds, and dreamed of being free like these birds. But what is it? The hand, powerlessly hanging from the lounger, felt someone's tender touch.

"Good afternoon, Satori" dark fluffy tails flickered here and there. "Do you want to be our brother?"

"Who... who are you?" The boy asked.

"Brothers of the one whose soul you have absorbed and suffered for. We will remove the pain and reward you for your suffering if you agree to accept a special gift and merge souls with the fox who died when you were just a baby."

"Yes, yes, you will become strong," said one voice.

"He chose you, Satori, which means you're worth it," the other echoed. "You will become a real magician!"

"I... I don??t know! I will return your soul if you need it so much!" The teenager shouted through the pain.

"Hush, hush, Satori, otherwise they will hear us. The soul is already with you and you will get along fine if you divide everything equally. Fairly!"

"Okay, so be it," the patient said wearily. "Come on, I'm ready!"

"Done! Get up, we have a lot to do!"

"Come on, get up already!"

Satori suddenly realized that nothing hurts, his body feels incredibly light, and now he has a real and very fluffy dark fox tail!

He took a step, another, and then rushed with all his might. And it was so great! Satori was filled with energy as he raced along, waving his beloved fan in the wind, occasionally noticing that somewhere from the side, at the edge of his vision, a beautiful black fox was gracefully running through the forest.
