He's selfless and willing to work hard, aka the perfect recipient (that we've seen in the show) to receive it, especially with All Might's condition. Maybe Koichi from Vigilantes could have been a choice.

I'll agree Deku can get kind of annoying, but he's not trash tier protag. He's no Luffy.
