Silver Surfer can remain in battle even outside his own body.

Even if the surfer�??s body isn�??t apparent, he�??s just a puppet, if he receives major damage he can leave his own body and enter the astral plane, which is where he has the most advantage, the astral plane is the source of cosmic power and there the SS is literally invulnerable as well as having an unlimited source of energy and combat arsenal at its disposal. He rarely uses this strategy because he almost never finds opponents of his height capable of injuring his body in a relatively lethal way. (Silver surfer in thy name #2 )
