Fun fact Shuri was always meant to be the next Black Panther. During development on Wakanda Forever, the sequel was to have T'Challa (Chad was still alive at the time.) train and pass the mantle to Shuri at the end so he focuses on raising his son Trussant with Nakia. Another plotline that was cut from the film was for Shuri and Namor to have a complicated romantic relationship.
