The real reasons for these two characters, other than the obvious "comedy" relief, is quite evident actually: The Russos wrote themselves into a corner with Thor, as they made him too powerful in IW, and needed a lame excuse to nerf him. With Hulk, they just hate everything which makes him Hulk, so they did research and found Prof. Hulk, and then destroyed his arm along with his career. Rest in peace legends; you will be forever missed...

Yeah, like they're made to be funny where if you wanted more broken characters, here are some ideas

Thor - Make him upset, maybe make him Drinking

Hulk - make him no longer wanting to be An Avenger

these Are FAR BETTER IDEAS than What they did

Thor- it seemed lazy, could have made a more interesting/creative "hero in crisis" story line. Hulk- just lame, the character didn't deserve such a lame ending (?).

Me (as an overweight person) actually really liked Thor. I'm glad he didn't just turn back into shredded beast. He was portrayed as a broken man, imo Hemsworth nailed it. I know exactly what his point of view was and it makes sense. As for Professor Hulk, it was exactly what I thought it would be, so it really didn't disappoint.

I personally hated both of them. I hated the whole Endgame. Thor and Hulk were portrayed as a joke and I didn't enjoy watching them at all.

Personally I don't like fat Thor, he was one of my favorites before. Now he's just a blob with a hammer and axe which are probably going to get taken from him. Professor hulk is cool in my book though.

@jongensoden let's see:

Intelligence: Thor's much smarter than his drunk counterpart
Speed: Thor could keep up with Ironman and Hulk who are both hypersonic while Thicc Thorr could barley walk
Strength: equals. Fat Thor was equal to Thanos in physical strength
Durability: regular Thor could get back up after being beaten up by Thanos, bifrosted into space to land right on Star Lords ship and hit with the full heat of a star then precede to do better than all other avengers during the final battle while fat Thor was knocked down by Thanos twice and down for the count.
