Stats v2.0 - Introduction

Created by Galactus, 2 mo 4 d ago.

The new Stat system is on the horizon and I thought it's time to introduce it to all of you.

I've been thinking about redoing the stats system for a while now. And I think we (DarkProdigy, NemianLion and I) have come up with a great system now.

All stat sections (intelligence, strength, speed, etc.) have real-world units or a set benchmark.
These are as follows;

Intelligence
Uses IQ points based on the BS5 classification. It's extended to 200
Strength
Uses kilograms (like before), but goes up to 1,000,000 metric tons instead of 500 metric tons.
Speed
Uses Meters per Second, with a max of 1,000,000,000, roughly 3x speed of light.
Durability, Combat
Is still a 0-100 scale, but with a clear benchmark list.
Power
Is still a 0-100 scale, but with a clear benchmark list. The superpower scores will not be added to this stat. What you enter is what you get.

With these real-world units and benchmarks, the stats can all be entered based on facts (with some debate). Overall more accurate.

Class v2.0
The overall calculation is a bit simpler, but more flexible. The super powers still have a point system and is used only to calculate the Class. To create some more scale to the classes we created a Tier system, going from 0 to 8 (going from human to outerversal). This acts as a multiplier to the calculated Class.

Currently (still tweaking) the maximum Class of version 2 will be 2 billion*. Yes, 2,000,000,000!!
This way the Classes act more linear and are easier to understand when comparing characters.

Calculation (updated)
( INT^1.3 + (STR*2 )^0.5 + (SPE*2)^0.5 + DUR^1.6 + (POW + SPS)^2 + COM^1.8 ) ^ TIER
SPS = Super Power Score

I don't have an exact date for release yet.

Sticky *Announcement*
Everyone that has 100 or more uStats by October 1st 2020 will receive a special Award. That's 10 uStats per week on average from now. Sounds doable, right?

I will filter the uStats for nonsense entries before assigning the awards.

Sticky I've created a collection with priority characters that need v2 stats.
Need v2 Stats Collection

Leave a comment on that collection (not this topic);
1. if you've done one, so I can remove it.
2. Want to add stats. No need to be editor.

The uStat edit page is almost done. Still need to add some help text. It's not in the interface yet.

For now, to access the page, go to any character profile page and add 'ustats' to the url, like so:
https://www.superherodb.com/hulk/10-83/ustats/

Power Levels
Most powers will show three options when selecting it. With those you can set the power 'level'. From left to right; low, avg, max.
The more a character can do with that power the higher the level should be. The level influenced the amount of points added to the class calculation.

Let me know what you think!

Still think you should work on that durability section a lot more.

I hear you. Some benchmarks are too vague or open for interpretation.

True. Some characters like Superman or Thor had 100 from durability which is above outerversal attacks. Both of them would be obliterated in one-hit by an outerversal attack (unless plot protects them or something).

Left of the pencil is the average of the uStats. The average of what all other users have added as stats. You can influence it by adding your own uStats for that character.

The 'u' in uStats mean 'you', your stats. Other users will add their stats for characters. It will then calculate an average of all those stats.

That's not available yet.
But since you asked, I'll make it so, that clicking on the pencil of your own OC, you can edit the v2 stats. I'll let you know when it's done (up to 30 minutes).

As we start adding more characters into the new system, we keep updating the calculation for the class. I've updated the above calculation.

Super Power Levels
The super powers will have three levels; low, average and max. When selecting a super power it will default to average. If you feel a character has fully mastered a power or he/she can do more things with it than the average character, you can set it to 'max'. And the 'low' option is for characters that are not that good with their power yet, less experienced or their version is more basic than others.

With these three levels you can set how much of the super power score (points) will be added to the calculation.

Hope that makes sense.

The infinity symbol is only given to characters with the Omnipotent power.
And Omniscient will give an infinity symbol for Intelligence and Omnipresent for speed.

Yes, it will be a universal stat system for every kind of character. There will be a transition period where both stats are present.

If the editor has to enter in the tier, wouldn't it become chaotic since everyone scales different (someone might scale Superman to star level while someone else scales him to solar system and someone else scales him to universal, etc)?

The Tier is the only 'flexibel' stat we have (up for interpretation). With the uStats we can get an average of everything, so with enough uStats it should give a good representation.
