Satakal's History
Satakal, also known as the Worldskin, Serpent God. First Serpent, world-snake, is the Yokudan god of everything. He is a fusion of the concepts of
Anu and
Padomay In essence, Satakal is much like the Nordic god
Alduin , who destroys one world to begin the next.Satakal does this by repeatedly eating himself and then shedding his skin to begin a new world. In Yokudan mythology, Satakal had done this many times over, a cycle which prompted the birth of spirits that could survive the transition. These spirits ultimately became the Yokudan pantheon.
In Redguard legends, Satakal came into being after Akel, the hungry stomach, made the first serpent Satak bite its own heart. Satak died but the hunger refused to stop, so Satak shed its skin, and Satakal was born. At this point, spirits began to see that there were patterns in the universe, and that they had a part in it, so they started taking names like Ruptga and Tu'whacca. Satakal would continue to eat itself over and over, and some spirits eventually learned how to avoid this cycle. Led by Ruptga, this led them to invent the Walkabout.One of the spirits, called Sep, eventually made a new world out of all Satakal's shed skins and convinced many of the other spirits to join him there as this was easier than the walkabout, but they soon started dying due to their distance from Satakal. Satakal formed from the interplay of the Yokudan equivalents of Anu and Padomay, and as such is in essence the Aurbis.
Hunger of Satakal
The Hunger of Satakal was a major problem for the Yokudan deities. Ruptga was the first to circumvent this problem, and taught the others to do likewise, however, soon, he needed to make a new god, called Sep, who was driven mad by the Hunger of Satakal
Worship
Satakal is a popular god of the Alik'r nomads.Worship of Satakal is more common among the Crown Redguards, as opposed to the Forebears who are more similar to cyrodilics in their religious views. Satakal once appeared to a prince named Ar-Azal and helped him solve the question of how to get the Crowns and the Forebears to unite.
