Mira Nova's History
Mira Nova was the daughter of King Nova of Tangea, and heir to the planet's throne. From a young age, she chafed at the restrictions placed on her by her father, as well as the general haughty nature of upper-class Tangean society. Nova first met Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear when he helped rescue King Nova from an attack by Evil Emperor Zurg, and the encounter inspired her to join Star Command. Aided by her "ghosting" powers(a form of phasing), innate to all Tangeans, as well as her natural dedication and eagerness, Mira proved herself to be top-notch Ranger material. After completing Ranger Training, Nova was assigned to be Lightyear's new partner by Commander Nebula. However Buzz, still grieving from the apparent death of his first partner Warp Darkmatter, refused to accept Nova
Following Zurg's capture of the Uni-Mind from the LGM Homeworld, Nebula prepared to launch a full-scale assault on Planet Z to recapture it. During the briefing however, Mira pointed out that a single one-man fighter, the prototype Alpha-1 would have a better chance of penetrating Zurg's defenses undetected. Buzz backs her up, but on the condition that he be the one to carry it out, which Nova objects to. They briefly argue, before Commander Nebula shuts them both down, intent on using his plan. Later, Mira is caught by Buzz attempting to hijack the Alpha-1, who admonishes her for her recklessness, as she turns to leave, Nova realizes that Buzz is also there to steal the Alpha-1. Using her ghosting abilities to stun Lightyear, Nova takes control of the ship and flies off to prove her plan will work.
After recovering, Lightyear (along with stowaway custodians Booster Munchapper and X.R., apprehends Nova and heads back to Star Command. Thankfully, all 4 of them were off-station when Evil Emperor Zurg blasted Star Command, as well as numerous other world, with a beam from the corrupted Uni-Mind, which gave him total control over the individuals aboard. Realizing they are now the last hope of the universe, Buzz, Mira, Booster and XR use the Alpha-1 to sneak onto Planet Z and infiltrate Zurg Tower. After defeating the Evil Emperor and his henchman Agent Z (actually a turncoat Warp Darkmatter), the team must still free the Uni-Mind from Zurg's corruption. Using her ghosting powers, Mira brings Buzz into the very core of the Uni-Mind, as his inherent absolute goodness will counteract Zurg's evil. The gambit payed off, and the universe was saved. Mira, along with the other members of the newly-formed "Team Lightyear", was awarded by the Galactic Alliance for her bravery.
During her tenure as a Space Ranger, Mira proved herself time and again while facing numerous challenges. She was forced to confront her past when her ex-boyfriend Romac turned up as a bounty hunter working for Zurg, though he later aided Team Lightyear against his employer. Nova also struggled with an addiction after ghosting through a Crystallic fusion generator, which greatly increased her power and intelligence, but at the cost of her stamina. Mira eventually made peace with her father, who while initially disapproving of her choice to be a Ranger, was still proud of her and her accomplishments.
