I’ve decided to stay after hard thinking. My detractors are trying to say I faked this whole thing just to get reassurance. That isn’t the case, and I think anyone here who actually takes the time to talk to me would know that.

I'm hoping I wasn't one of the people who made you uncomfortable here, some people shouldn't be so defensive about fictional characters. Some of those same people actually did ruin this site. SHDb was amazing in 2018 to Mid-2019, That was the prime years imo. The OGs have aged, instead of 13-14 year olds, we've grown and are practically adults. The amazing user @DarkProdigy even left du to personal reasons. If this site had more users that could replace us, it would still be one of the greatest superhero sites. Some of these new generation debaters can be just as toxic as Comicvine and VSBW users. Sorry to see you go, bud.

This is still great. The OGs were always going to leave eventually and be replaced by newer people. However that doesn't have to be a bad thing and there are still great people here overall.

Hey there! I just wanted to say that I respect your decision on your departure regarding the annoying Marvel fans that always drives me nuts when I always chat to them. In fact I am a huge Marvel, DC, and Anime fan that puts out creative fights that yet no one ever pays attention to. I does anger me to see many CARELESS Marvel fans complain their opinion on the differences between Marvel, DC, and Anime multiverses, not to mention you on this list. You, MoNsTeR, and Alien X were perfect examples of users I madly respect to support and vote anime characters in my battles (i.e Alucard, Dio Brando, Lucy, etc. ). Thanks again for being a huge contributor to non Marvel and DC characters on this website, I am proud to chat with you on this website, with respect to Alien X and MoNsTeR. While its sad to see you feel this way, your upsetting people in the same way your getting upset. You need to stop blaming Marvel fans for votes that don't go your way. Most people here don't care about the difference between Marvel or DC because the difference is so trivial. Attacking one group of fans is what makes this place toxic.

That’s part of it and it would help but it’s also about certain users ruining the site for everyone else. The voting stuff wouldn’t matter if people used it correctly and not to discourage others.

This may sound very unpopular (and ironically may get downvoted) but I actually really like the downvote system. It gives you an idea of how liked/disliked your comment was. Whenever I've made comments on the prequels or the Sentry I tend to get downvoted which shows me not many people agree. @BlotskyA was one of those people who used to get downvoted but now he's quite well upvoted these days.
To be fair the people who get downvoted the most are those who start swearing and attacking others. The downvoting system has been quite effective to suppressing that kind of behaviour.

If this site was a social network like Instagram, I would understand why the downvote was not welcomed. But this is a debate site, and certainly everyone who enters the debate already knows that there are people who disagree with him.
I do not agree with those who downvote all the others comments or upvote their own comments but this is only displayed to users not all who see the site.I believe that if downvote is used correctly, it is a very good thing.

Downvoting isn't a personal attack and people shouldn't be taking it that way. Its just a disagreement of opinion. If anything its better to be downvoted than to have someone personally tell you your wrong which may be more discouraging

@Tyrannus Is actually completely correct. I personally downvoted Tyrranus's comments on the prequels, because I disagree with them, not because I don't like the person behind the opinion. In turn some of my comments on the original trilogy were downvoted by many, not because people dislike me, but because they disagree with my opinion, which is the whole point of a debate website.

I myself had this issue, and it actually was @Mr_Incognito who was one of the people who stood up for me. But the reason why I cared was because I wanted them to prove me wrong. I wasn't trolling, so if they thought it was so wrong they should've responded, like I do if I downvote a non-troll.

And it shouldn't be a personal issue for that exact reason. Ever since I started debating for Hulk (before SHDb), I decided that I wouldn't care if many people disagreed with me, I wouldn't care for the approval of others. Its nice but its really just a side point. Look at the S(J)W fanboys for example. Everything that one of them comments, they all spam the upvotes, even if its blatant lies.
