It's like being a super fan basically. To stan a celebrity is to know everything about them and stuff. In this case, to stan a character would mean someone always votes for the character, even when it seems really unlikely they would win. For instance, if someone tries to make the argument that spider-man can beat thanos, they probably are super-fans of the character, and are staning them in that sense. Fun fact, the term "stan" actually comes from the eminem song, which I think is funny since now the term is used in a generally positive way, and the song is not like that at all.
