Is Lex Luthor really a villain?

So I was thinking about this , is Lex Luthor really a villain? I mean granted he tries to take out Superman and teams up with super villains. But in real life if someone from another planet, that was an alien with superpowers come to this world, would you not do the same thing to try to stop him? I'm just curious on everybody's opinion.

He's not really a villain he just really doesn't like Superman. He's actually a good man but he just has a huge ego. He made himself rich and famous. All the good things he has in life he earned but then came an alien who didn't earn any of his accomplishments and suddenly overshadows Luthor. It's not fair
