Faith Lehane

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Faith's powers and abilities

Slayer Powers:

Strength:
  • As a slayer, Faith is endowed with physical strength that is greater than humans, some demons and most, if not all, vampires.

  • She is capable of lifting and throwing human-sized subjects a sizable distances, propelling enemies with a single blow, bending solid metal with her bare hands (the bars of a grate), breaking human bones with ease, and punching into concrete walls to no ill effect.

  • When upset or angry, Slayers can seemingly access great levels and feats of strength.

  • Strength Examples:

  • During prison, an inmate tries to assassinate Faith. Faith grabs a barbell (that already had plates on it) with ease, and wields it like a lightweight staff.

  • Boosts Angel high enough to reach Willow flying/levitating in the sky.

  • Lifts a stone coffin lid over her head.

  • Slams Olvikan's (an Old One) head to the ground.

  • Kicks down a huge set of wooden doors.

  • Kicks Gigi (a younger slayer) over 50 feet, through a greenhouse wall.

  • Kicks Gigi so hard her back flies into an axe, killing her.

  • Gets dogpiled by a group of Turok-Han vampires and manages to kick them all off after a brief moment.

  • Kicks Spike into the other room and over a dinner table.

  • Kicks Angel off his feet when she's lying on the floor.

  • Kicks Wesley across the room.

  • Kicks off a police partition, with Buffy.

  • Kills Kakistos by jamming a wooden support beam into his heart, whereas Buffy failed to do so with a regular stake.

  • Smashes up a concrete wall with repeated punches.

  • During Buffy Season 8 and onward, it has shown that Faith has grown in strength and speed, and has been able to again match Buffy Summers, and even during a quick encounter gain the advantage to the point where had Faith not backed off, Buffy's death at her hands seemed a distinct possibility.

Speed:
  • As a slayer, Faith is able to move at great speeds.

  • Dodges a lightning strike from the Glove of Myhnegon as she uses herself to draw the wearer's fire.

  • Avoids automatic gunfire from two Watchers, one of them in a helicopter.

  • Dodges multiple shotgun blasts from a close distance.

  • Catches a pair of gardening shears thrown by a fellow Slayer.

  • Makes her way across London by leaping from rooftop to rooftop.

  • In the comics, Faith has been shown to have great combat speed. Going as far to create afterimages as she blitzes demons, vampires, etc.

Reflexes:
  • As a slayer, Faith has incredible reflexes.

  • Dodges Gigi's axe swing, lands on it and uses the high ground to kick her in the face.

  • Chops off a guy's hand before he can shoot Angel in the head.

  • Cuts her hair in time to avoid an eye blast from Nash.

Agility:
  • As a slayer, Faith is capable of superhuman feats when it comes to agility.

  • She was capable of leaping to great heights, and great distances.

  • Leaps onto two airborne drones and destroys them one by one.

  • Uses the Scythe to pivot herself up a wall.

  • Leaps across parts of scaffolding.

  • Narrowly leaps out of the way two gargoyles charging towards her, causing them to collide into each other.

  • Avoids the Beast's strike with a backflip before setting him off-balance with a scorpion kick.

Durability:
  • As a slayer, Faith is substantially more durable and resistant to blunt force trauma, compared to the ordinary human. Being a slayer, Faith also has several times the endurance of a common human, making it difficult, albeit not impossible, to bruise them, break their bones, strain their joints, etc.

  • Gets rushed through a doorway, totally destroying it and proceeds to fight like nothing.

  • Survives being stabbed in the kidneys followed by a long fall down a moving truck, hitting her head and rendering her comatose. She awakens eight months later with no signs of muscle atrophy, and holds her own in a fight with Buffy.

  • Continues fighting after a three storey fall onto a dumpster.

  • Crashes through a barred window onto a car four storeys below, flattening its roof and continuing unharmed.

  • Manages to keep fighting the Beast (a very strong demon, that was affiliated with Jasmine, a former PTB) after he punches her into a crate so hard it shatters and beating her into a bloody pulp. By the end she still musters enough strength to take a shot at Angelus.

  • Gets up after being thrown off some scaffolding.

  • A group of policemen gang up on her and proceed to repeatedly beat her with nightsticks, and she manages to get up and fight back without no marks or handicap to speak of.

  • Survives an explosion powerful enough to cave-in the sewer she's in, despite being extremely close at the point of detonation. She fully recovers a few hours later.

  • Tanks a magical blast through a glass wall then gets crushed by a giant hand made of Earth.

  • Faith, along with a group of new Slayers, were struck with a magical electrical attack from a demon. While the younger Slayers' faces started melting off, Faith resisted the attack with lesser injuries and even fought back

  • Gets bombarded by an array of explosives with no major injuries.

Healing Factor:
  • Her healing factor allows her to endure days of constant fighting and numerous injuries.

  • Slayers seem to recover quickly from blood loss.

  • Survives an explosion powerful enough to cave-in the sewer she's in, despite being extremely close at the point of detonation. She fully recovers a few hours later.

  • Despite being closest to the bomb, Faith survived an explosion that caused an entire sewer tunnel to cave-in, killing several potential slayers in the process. Although she was severely wounded and weakened, Faith was ready to fight Turok-Han vampires after about a day of rest.

Stamina:
  • As a slayer, Faith possessed great stamina.

  • Shows no signs of exhaustion after completing an intense physical evaluation.

Senses:
  • As a slayer, Faith possesses a heightened awareness of their surroundings. This heightened awareness could, with experience, allow the Slayer to know the position of an attacker and fight them blindfolded or in the dark.

  • Not too long after waking up from her eight month coma and going to confront Buffy, she notices Willow attempting to sneak a hit during her, and warns her to stop (going as far to say, "Try it, Red, and you lose an arm").

  • Turns around in time to prevent an assassin from striking her while doing chin-ups.

  • Pinpoints Angelus' position when he hides from view and attempts to sneak up on her.

  • Counters multiple Turok Han vampires advancing on her from behind.

Accuracy:
  • As a slayer, Faith has an better ac enhanced marksmanship, which is helped with her heightened sense of awareness.

  • Shoots a courier in the heart with a longbow, killing him instantly.

  • Kills a demonic spider with a knife throw.

  • Shoots a demon through the throat with a crossbow.

  • Shoots Pearl in the shoulder while falling.

  • Headshots several vampires with an assault rifle after training with firearms for a short time.

Innate Skill:
  • A uniting force among all Slayer is their shared spiritual connection. Every Slayer experiences the heroics of past Slayers via dreams.

  • Through the spiritual connection, each Slayer possesses innate skill that they are taught to tap into.

  • The moment a Slayer is called, her shared memories hit her like a truck.

  • These instincts exist even before a Slayer is activated. Faith helped, along with Buffy, to teach a group of potential Slayers to trust and hone their instincts despite lacking powers.

Fighting Skills:
  • A Slayer naturally had formidable fighting abilities.

  • A Slayer's fighting prowess also appeared to extend to her weapon proficiency.

  • The Slayer's fighting talent could likely be attributed to their dreams of past Slayers.

  • She also has a natural proficiency with all kinds of weaponry and combatant styles (this also requires training, but slayers are naturally adept at learning martial arts and weaponry).

  • Faith holds her own in a brief brawl less than 24 hours after waking up from a coma.

  • Taking place a few hours since the last one, Faith held back somewhat as part of her plot to swap bodies with Buffy.

  • Takes on Angel's evil persona, Angelus, who is willing to kill yet she puts up a good fight despite being drugged.

  • Briefly trades blows with Spike, who is more-or-less Angel's match and has killed Slayers in the past.

  • Totally outmatches Angel's half-demon son Connor, who was raised as a vicious demon hunter in a near-inhospitable hell dimension, shortly after awaking from her drugged-induced sleep.

  • Fights the Eli Eliminati, a cult of vampire duelists, while chatting and exchanging looks with Buffy.

  • Briefly holds off a group of Slayers at once in a smoke bomb cloud.

Prophetic/Retrocognitive Dreaming/Psychic Link:
  • All Slayers through the ages shares a psychic link, manifested in dreams. A Slayer would frequently dream of herself as a Slayer in another time and place, even before being called, which would hint if they were Potential Slayers. They could also experience prophetic dreams related to upcoming crises.

  • Dreams existed in their own dreamspace where, for a Slayer, precognitive sense and the inherited memories of other Slayers could manifest themselves. One consequence of this power was that a Slayer would essentially have fought all the battles of the Slayers before her. These experiences helped hone their skills and aid them in future battles.

  • Also, activated Slayers have appeared in each other's dreams, as Buffy and Faith shared several dreams when Faith was in a coma. Faith provided the first cryptic reference to Dawn Summers' arrival.

  • Under the influence of Orpheus (a powerful, mystical drug), Faith shared a dream with Angelus as they both relived Angel's memories together. There she reconnected with the good side of Angel who snapped her out of her mystical slumber.

Slayer's Blood:
  • The blood of the Slayer could be consumed by vampires to either strengthen themselves or to cure affliction. For instance, the Master used Buffy's blood to break himself free from his mystical prison. Buffy also used her blood to cure Angel from the Killer of the Dead — Slayer's blood being the only cure.

  • Slayer's blood was also considered a powerful aphrodisiac.

Emotional Empowerment:
  • Buffy stated, "My emotions give me power. They're total assets!" when arguing with Kendra.

  • Faith typically relied on her anger, hatred, etc.

Leadership:
  • Slayers are natural leaders, even though Slayers were supposed to work alone and never let anyone, in their personal life, know about what/who they were.

  • Quickly takes charge of Angel Investigations in the hunt for Angelus.

  • Takes charge of the potential Slayers following Buffy's forced exit, until she inadvertently leads them into a trap.

  • Rallies the people of Hanselstadt to fend off a vampire attack.

  • Trains younger Slayers in London.

  • Leads a military unit of Slayers following the death of their first-in-command.

Demonic Source:
  • In ancient Africa, a group of tribal elders known as the Shadowmen used powerful magic to infuse the essence of an ancient demon into a young captive girl, Sineya. This process granted her and the Slayer line powers. She became the First Slayer, called to fight the vampires, the demons, and other forces of evil that populated Earth and threatened the innocent.

Damage Boost & Reduction:
  • A Slayer has somewhat control over how much strength she uses.

  • It is unknown how much of boost a Slayer could put behind their damage, but from what we seen they can reduce the damage to a weak humans attack.

Intellect:
  • Faith may not be the smartest of the group when it comes to academics (as she dropped out of high school early), but when it comes to street smarts, she is high up there.

  • Is able to identify a vampire from a crowd and lure him into a secluded area by posing as an oblivious girl.

  • Lets Buffy beat her up enough before switching bodies, allowing Faith to land an easy final shot right after.

  • Tests Angel's readiness to kill her with a handgun filled with blanks, before shooting him with one of its loaded chambers.

  • Subdues Angelus by injecting herself with a mystical drug so that he succumbs to its effects when he feeds on her blood.

  • Thanks to Giles, Faith convincingly poses as an uptight socialite to infiltrate an event.

  • Used a flip lighter to kill a gaseous demon.

  • Pulls Nadira out of a bar fight with some quick-thinking.
