Demogorge's History

Demogorge, Atum and Atum-Ra "RA" are three in one Cosmic Entities. This is an extremely complex character to define, interpret and explain, since all 3 are one and the same.

This is the Demogorge version of the three, who was first born as Atum...

He is the progeny/offspring of the Nigh-Omnipotent Abstract Cosmic Entity known as "Demiurge" and the Nigh-Omnipotent Elder Goddess "Gaea" who is mother to all of Earth's Godly Pantheons and is revealed to be the fountainhead of all life in the Multiverse. Gaea called upon the Demiurge, the physical manifestation of the life-force of Earth and source of Gaea herself, in order that it might engender within Gaea a new kind of being. So the Demogorge/Atum is a half Abstract Cosmic Entity and half Elder God. This is his true lineage, which has great importance in his history. Atum is the most powerful of Gaea's children, being responsible for the destruction and retreat of all the Elder Gods.

When the Abstract Cosmic Entity the Demiurge infused his essence in the earth's biosphere he then created the Elder Gods, in time something horrible happened, hence the story of Atum...and the Demogorge!

The serpent Elder God Seth soon spawned two monstrosities which would aid him in his conquest of the planet. Seth soon discovered that he could absorb the essence of his siblings by devouring them, and adding their powers to his own. Thus he set out a rampage of murders of other Elder Gods. Seth was the first murderer on planet Earth.

Soon after, all the Elder Gods followed Seth's footsteps and participated in the mass murder of Elder Gods and they slowly degenerated from Gods to demons, all except one, Gaea. During these events, Gaea's sibling "Oshtur" was travelling the stars and was not present at the time. In fear of the danger the other Elder Gods would have on Earth's growing life, Gaea called out for the Demiurge and together they spawned an Elder God who is also the first of the new Gods, Atum, who possess the power of the Sun itself.

Atum arose from within Gaea fully formed and in full possession of his powers. Wielding the powers of the sun itself,.Atum started to slay the Elder Gods and as he killed them, he absorbed their essences and powers, thus transformed into the Demogorge. Eventually, Demogorge slew and absorbed all the Elder God demons, Except for Chthon and Seth. Having the gift of foresight, Chthon had come prepared and casted a spell that allowed him to escape to another dimension. Seth saw what his brother had done and copied him, allowing the serpent God to escape as well. Atum as the most powerful of Gaea's children, is responsible for the destruction and retreat of all the Elder Gods.

Content that he had accomplished his mission, Demogorge reverted to Atum and flew upward where he merged with the sun itself.

When Gaea deemed the dinosaurs and evolutionary dead end and sought to replace them with mammals Seth opposed her. He had returned to feed off their life energies and wished to continue to do so.

Seth began an assault on Earth's lifeforms, Seth who was determined to massacre all mammals to ensure dinosaur supremacy, had merged several enormous dinosaurs into a physical form for himself. Therefore Gaea summoned Atum once again in order to defeat Seth and his legions of powerful Demons. Atum fought and eventually turned into his much more powerful form of the Demogorge and after a fierce battle that lasted for millions of years and laying waste to the Earth around them. Ironically, the dinosaurs were rendered extinct due to the battle, Demogorge slayed all of Seth's Demons and in the process, Demogorge severed Set's head with a single bolt of power and absorbed the demon's powers. Demogorge eventually emerged victorious but with Seth not yet deceased and had grown 2 more heads but with his powers depleted and absorbed by Demogorge, the Demogorge easily drove him off to another Dimension once more.

The power of the Demogorge is extremely powerful, so much so that it struck fear in all of the earthly Godheads of every Godly Pantheons when the Demogorge journeyed to the Dimension where all the Hell Lords had convened and thus devoured all of them. (The story of that event is in the following chapter)

In recent years, the Demogorge emerged again due to an assembly of Death Gods composed of Ahpuch, Ereshkigal, Pluto, Seth, Yama, Mephisto, and Hela who intended to expand and merge their realms. This event brought the reemergence of the Demogorge who consumed all of the Death Gods assembled and absorbed their essences and powers. When news came forth to Odin about these events, he called to all the Godheads of Earths Godly Pantheons. The threat was so formidable, that it could end all of the Godly Pantheons of earth, it was decided that a champion from each Pantheons was chosen to go battle the Demogorge.

After devouring the death-gods he was opposed by the team of Sun and Thunder Gods sent by Earth's Pantheons led by Thor to stop him. He devoured each of them, including Thor but the fighting spirit of Thor was too strong for him to fully consume and Thor attacked him from within. The union of heroic Gods from various Pantheons convinced Demogorge that it was not time for the current Pantheons to die. Demogorge realized this and he restored the fallen Gods, Champions and Hell Lords alike and reverted to Atum and returned to the sun, only after the death-gods realm were separated again.

ATLANTIS ATTACKS

Atum was contacted by Thor to aid Earth's heroes in a battle against the returning Seth. Thor fought Atum and forced his transformation into Demogorge. As Demogorge, he defeated Seth once again driving hi back to his own dimension and then returned to the sun as Atum.

When the elder snake god Seth achieved the power to manifest on Earth again, the God eater was asked by Thor to help. Eventually Demogorge appeared and assaulted Seth until the serpent's power was exhausted and once again driven back to his Dimension.

"If the giants win... if Olympus falls... then the cosmic axis shifts. And the God-Eater... FEASTS."~Demogorge

When the Greek Titan king Cronus launched an assault on Olympus once again, Atum observed and warned the Olympians that if Cronus won, the Greek gods would all be devoured by Demogorge. Hercules fought off the giants and the titan king, before turning to challenge the Devourer which would of been futile as Demogorge can easily devour an entire Godly Pantheon by himself but all was averted due to the Greek Gods winning their battle against Cronus and his minions and Demogorge reverted to Atum and returned to the sun.

Demogorge was called upon a few more times to defend and protect the Gods while slaying countless Demon Gods but after millions of years, no longer needed as the Demogorge to slay Hell Lords or fighting Seth, he finally rested and he became the Godhead of the Egyptian Godly Pantheon in his Atum form, who created many more Gods and chose champions, created Avatars and artifacts in order to represent him on earth while he was at peace still merged with the sun.

The rest of his history will be in the precise chain of events when Atum, became Atum-Ra, Ra.

Best Comic book for the right representation of Demogorge and sum up of most of his history in both forms Atum/Demogorge, is Thor Annual #10 (1966) published August 1982
