I have been a comic fan my whole life. Started reading X-Men in the early 90's followed by Spawn. That was about the time that comic book animated series were going strong. Watched Batman, Spiderman, X-men and Justice League. Around 2013 I got back into comics again after re-reading the The Killing Joke. It is what made the addiction come back full force. Most of my recent reading has been Green Lantern (Secret origins - Blackest Night/Brightest day), Flash Rebirth, Batman/Detective Comics (New 52--Rebirth), Planet Hulk, World War Hulk and Deadpool (origins vol 1--3). So currently heavy on the D.C. Side but I will try not to side with them just because it's my most current reading.
